The Finnish arctic area

Typical landscapes for this region: trees are getting scarce, marshes all over the place. A good brooding place for the mosquitoes! A large piece of road was missing, so we had to go through the dirt. The bike is grey all over and missing its right mirror but otherwise allright. After all this is what she was made for.
Reindeer are very common over here. Here is an old one, standing in front of a restaurant. No way to get around him, he was a little grumpy
On the camping the built a little kitchen on a bridge over a stream. Here we met a man who tought us to beat ourselves with a birch twig against the mosquitoes. Works fine but makes you feel like a medieval monk chastening himself ;-)
These pictures were taken further north, near the Norwegian border. The mountains are already becoming a little higher.
