Near Helsinki

In Finland at last! here is a camping just 10 km outside of Helsinki. What struck me most in this part of Finland was the birchtrees, they are kind of gloomy. Makes you understand the music of Sibelius a little better The sun does not shine all night here but it does not get completely dark either. Makes us realise that we came a good deal further to the north during the boatride | |

We had a good boat trip from Travemünde to Helsinki. It is a fast way of traveling (60 km/h) and a relaxed one.
We had a 'couchette', which appeared to be a cot right over the engine room. It was noisier and vibrated more than a Dnepr at those speeds!. We allmost went to sleep with our kidney-belts on. Fortunately sea-air makes one sleepy :-) |
