Lake Myvatn

Lake Myvatn is a beautifull lake, with a lot of bird life around an on it. It is surrounded by vulcanoes
When we got there, the south and west side of the lake were still frozen over

The frozen lake with vulcanoes in the background. The white one is from the ice age, the black crater in front of it from more recent times
Not all of the lake was frozen, due to both the oncoming spring and to hot water springs around the lake
On the thawed shores a lot of birds were breeding, among them all of the duck species of Iceland exept the eiderduck. This was also the case on the camping, which lay next to the lake. Since it did not become really dark at night, there was bird noise all day long

Around the lake the lava has been formed by water and wind into sometimes bizarre formations.
